Preparing the Mind & Body

Preparing for Your Ayahuasca Journey

Participating in an ayahuasca retreat is a profound healing experience, and proper preparation ensures that you receive its full benefits while maintaining physical, emotional, and spiritual safety.

8-Day Ayahuasca Retreat

Cleansing the Energetic Body

To safely and fully receive the teachings of Ayahuasca, it is important to prepare both the energetic field and the physical body. Our preparation practices are rooted in Amazonian traditions that cleanse, protect, and strengthen guests before entering ceremony.

Prior to ceremony, guests undergo traditional cleansing rituals that remove stagnant or heavy energies. These practices help create a state of balance and protection, ensuring that participants enter ceremony with greater clarity and peace of mind.

  • Floral water cleansing:Fresh plants and flowers are used in aromatic infusions to refresh and protect the subtle energy field.
  • Smoke rituals (sopladas):The shaman gently blows sacred tobacco or herbal smoke to clear blockages and strengthen energetic protection.
  • Intentional prayers:Guests are guided to release unnecessary burdens and call in support for healing.

Key Preparation Steps

Prerequisites

  • Medication Clearence and Disclosure: Disclose all medications, supplements, or recreational drugs to our team. Certain medications (e.g., antidepressants, SSRIs) may interact with Ayahuasca, requiring a safe taper period under medical guidance before participation.

Following a clean diet before the retreat helps the body and mind adjust to the medicine and can enhance the healing experience. Recommendations typically include:

  • Avoid red meat, pork, and heavy or fried foods for at least 3–5 days before the retreat.
  • Avoid alcohol, recreational drugs, caffeine, and processed sugar.
  • Limit or avoid salt, spicy foods, and dairy products.
  • Eat light, plant-based meals, focusing on vegetables, fruits, grains, and legumes.
  • EStay hydrated with water and herbal teas.

Lifestyle & Mental Preparation

  • Rest and Sleep:Aim for sufficient rest before arriving. Fatigue can affect your experience.
