Our Covenant with Jerusalén
Five hours upriver from El Chino, along the sacred Tahuayo River near the Tamshiyacu Tahuayo National Reserve, lies the Achuar community of Jerusalén—a radiant hearth of ancestral wisdom. Founded in the 1960s by Don Ramón Arahuanaza, this village of 50–90 souls across 13 households weaves the traditions of the Achuar, Aguaruna, Shuar, Yagua, and Kichwa into a living tapestry of songs and rituals. As guardians of the Área de Conservación Regional Comunal Tamshiyacu-Tahuayo, their 2023 vigilance post stands as a testament to their devotion to protecting the selva’s sacred biodiversity, home to thousands of plant and animal species, a sacred duty we share. With Hector’s leadership in conservation, inspired by his work with the NGO Jaguar Matsés Connection, we support reforestation, medicinal gardens, and sustainable practices. We are here to honor the jungle’s divine bounty, ensuring its spirit thrives for generations, while inviting you to learn from Jerusalén’s rituals and join in their guardianship.
At the core of our retreat is Sergio, Don Ramón’s son and our master healer, whose icaros carry the ancient lineage of his father. Through ceremonies with Ayahuasca, Kambô, and other sacred plants, Sergio guides your soul into the jungle’s divine mysteries. Our covenant with Jerusalén weaves their sacred practices—hunting, fishing, agriculture, and crafting—into our retreats, inviting you to learn from their rituals and share in their guardianship of the selva. Together, we create a sacred circle where healing and harmony flourish under the moonlit canopy.
