Phases of the Sacred Journey
The ceremony unfolds in stages, each with its own gifts and lessons. Guided by the icaros (healing songs) and the wisdom of the shamans, participants are held in a safe and sacred container:
- Invocation & Protection – The circle is opened with prayers, blessings, and protective songs. Intentions are spoken silently or aloud, calling in guidance for the night.
- Opening of the Medicine – As the brew takes effect, awareness expands and the senses awaken. Subtle shifts in energy signal the beginning of the work.
- The Descent Within – Layers of memory, emotion, and vision arise. Some experience purging, which is seen as the body’s way of releasing dense energies and toxins.
- Healing & Revelation – Ayahuasca works to restore balance. Participants may encounter ancestors, spiritual guides, or visions that carry lessons for healing and growth.
- Return & Integration – As the ceremony closes, the energy softens and harmony is restored. Gratitude and silence settle into the circle, preparing each guest for rest and reflection.
Returning to Wholeness
The sacred work continues after the last song is sung. Ayahuasca opens the door, but integration allows the wisdom to take root in daily life. Many find that the medicine brings:
